The Art of Preservation

Hand-painted papyrus pictures, due to the delicate nature of the medium, are always a superb example of the art of framing. They must be handled with great care and technical expertise.

The result is a display-style frame featuring a striking wooden frame. The papyrus has been mounted using conservation techniques and deliberately set back from the glass by a spacer. The specialised glass used protects the delicate artwork whilst allowing its colours and details to shine through.

This is how a frame is made that does more than simply enclose a picture: it creates distance, protection and space for the story that a work of art tells.

And that is precisely what makes a good frame for us. Because sometimes it is a valuable work of art. Sometimes a memory. Sometimes a found object with a history.
