Not every artwork needs glass or a traditional picture frame. Pictures on wooden panels can be displayed in a particularly modern way with a shadow-gap frame.

In this example, the artwork was first mounted onto a colour-matched MDF panel. The entire unit was then fitted into a handmade, custom shadow-gap frame. The small gap between the artwork and the frame gives the impression that the artwork is floating slightly. At the same time, the texture of the wooden panel remains visible and is deliberately highlighted.

Our tip: For pictures on unusual materials, it’s worth looking beyond standard solutions. A custom frame can further enhance the impact of the artwork.
