Swissair posters from the 60s

Our holidays are over now, but maybe you are already thinking about your next journey? When you return from your travels, you might also bring one or two pictures that we can frame for you. Until then, here a few Swissair inspirations:

Swissair operated Switzerland’s air traffic from 1937 to 2001 as the Swiss national airline. Swissair’s advertising posters are icons of Swiss vintage posters. In the Art Poster Gallery, we now have some original posters by the Zurich artists Niklaus Schwabe and Manfred Bingler.

The designer Niklaus Schwabe gained artistic experience in Germany and France after he dropped out of the Zurich School of Applied Arts and returned to Zurich at the age of twenty learn art on his own. He lived from commissioned work, for which he also folded and ripped paper to collages.

Manfred Bingler learnt photography at the Zurich School of Applied Arts. After graduating, he worked as a photographer for the publisher Conzett + Huber and for Swissair, until he opened his own studio for advertising photography.

Come by, we are looking forward to your visit!
