Jutta Votteler – Nature experiences between abstraction and fantasy

The Berlin-based artist Jutta Votteler has been producing numerous artwork of all kinds for years. In addition to studying art education and German language and literature, she also worked as an art teacher at the University of Kaiserslautern. She intensively studied color woodcuts and color etchings and then developed her very own artistic language. Since 1983 she has exhibited her own works at home and abroad in numerous solo exhibitions.

Jutta Votteler’s color etchings and painting series are characterized by the rich play of colors and the concentration of forms. Each nuance of her colour palette is in some way composed of the three basic colours.

In her dense compositions, the domestic and the foreign as well as the transience and beauty find each other. The motifs of her art come from a world of exotic flora and fauna. With her specific colour and form design, the artist detaches the image of reality from its everydayness and creates a completely new atmospheric space.
