Olivia Schulthess: (born 1978)
After the pre-course at ZHdK she got an education as a graphic designer.
She teaches art to kids at theatre Purpur, lives and works in Zürich.
„With every new work I begin starts a search for a sequence of truth. I like intuitive painting, which comes to it’s expression with an archaic force. This and my 20 years of experience in painting make my works what they are.“

Olivia Schulthess’s paintings consist of acrylic paint on canvas. They are often painted, pasted over and repainted. Oil chalk drawings run through the pictures, some of which float like fragments in the plane or set signs. Signs in simple but concise language that are in dialogue with the colour and the surfaces. The pictures suggest a connection to the earth whose strength is perceptible and are relatively small:
